On Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at approximately 6:30 p.m., KAMEG Agents executed a search warrant at 719 North Church Street, Gibson City, IL (Ford County). During a search, Agents seized ammunition and approximately 22.0 grams of suspected cannabis. The resident, Nicholas JC Rodriguez, age 22, was arrested. Rodriguez was charged with unlawful delivery of cannabis and for possession of ammunition without a FOlD card. Rodriguez was transported to the Ford County Detention Center. KAMEG was assisting the Gibson City Police Department.

 

 

On Thursday, October 4, 2018, at approximately 6:09 p.m., Illinois State Police (District 21) arrested Frederick Alexander, age 57, of Lansing, Illinois. Alexander was stopped northbound on Interstate 57 at milepost 299. A search of his truck tractor, semi-trailer resulted in the seizure of 6.6 kilos of suspected cocaine.  Alexander was transported to and detained at the Iroquois County Detention Center. KAMEG assisted in the investigation.

 

 

On Friday, September 28, 2018, at approximately 7:01 p.m., KAMEG Agents executed a search warrant at 160 South Curtis Avenue, Apartment 15, Kankakee, L. During a search, Agents located approximately 32.8 grams of suspected cannabis and 2.1 grams of suspected cocaine. Terry T. Taylor, age 37, of Kankakee, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Taylor was transported to and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

 

 

On Saturday, September 29, 2018, at approximately 7:29 p.m., KAMEG agents executed a search warrant at 531 South Dearborn Avenue, Kankakee, IL. During a search, agents located approximately 139.1 grams of suspected cannabis and 11.3 grams of suspected ecstasy. KAMEG Agents also recovered two firearms from the residence. Latrell T. Franklin, age 19, of Chicago, was arrested and charged with armed violence, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Franklin was also wanted by the Illinois Department of Corrections for a parole violation. Franklin was transported to and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center. KAMEG was assisted by the Kankakee Police Department.

 

 

On Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at approximately 10:36 p.m., KAMEG Agents arrested Emil M. France, age 22, of Kankakee, after Agents observed him in the 400 block of South Gordon in Kankakee. As Agents approached, France fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, Agents arrested France. Agents located a loaded 45 caliber firearm from the scene. France was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. France was transported to the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

Public Service Announcement

On Saturday, October 27, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Kankakee Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group (KAMEG), Kankakee Police Department, Bradley Police Department, Bourbonnais Police Department, Kankakee County Sheriffs Department, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the Pledge for Life Partnership will give the public its next opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Please bring your unwanted medications for disposal to the Northfield Square Mall at 1600 North State Route 50 in Bourbonnais, Illinois. Please use the east midcourt entrance between Carson's Department Store and Cinemark Movies 10. This service is free, anonymous, and no questions will be asked. Officers from KAMEG will be stationed to accept medications. According to KAMEG Director Chris Koerner, "The program is a success in our area due to continued public support. During the past two collections, officers have collected over 1,500 pounds of unwanted prescription drugs." Similar to past events, the drop-off location inside the mall will be set-up to allow quick public access to the service. Director Koerner reminds the public that needles, syringes, and liquids are NOT accepted during the event. Director Koerner also advised that if the public is unable to make the event, the following locations have permanent drop boxes: Aroma Park Village Hall, Bradley Police Department, Bourbonnais Police Department, Grant Park Police Department, Herscher Village Hall, Illinois State Police -District 21, Jerome Combs Detention Center, Kankakee Police Department, Kankakee Sheriffs Department, Manteno Police Department, Momence Police Department, and St. Anne Village Hall. Area residents are encouraged to contact their local law enforcement agencies to determine exact locations and hours of availability. The DEA reports that the response to the National Prescription Drug Take Back Initiative has been overwhelmingly positive. In the previous Take-Back events nationwide from 2010-2015, approximately 2,500 tons of drugs were collected.By participating in the program, the community helps prevent potential safety and health hazards associated with improper prescription drug disposal. This initiative provides an opportunity for the public to safely dispose of pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications that were not previously collected or have accumulated since the last event.

 

 

 

On Monday, June 27, 2018, at approximately 8:12 p.m., KAMEG agents executed a search warrant at 572 Stockton Heights Drive, Bourbonnais, IL. During a search, agents located approximately 15.59 pounds of suspected cannabis and 17.37 pounds of suspected cannabis edibles. KAMEG Agents also located ammunition. Brice A. Mixon, age 20, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver over 5000 grams and possession of ammunition by a felon. Mixon was transported to and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center. KAMEG was assisted by the Bourbonnais Police Department.

 

 

On Sunday, August 19, 2018, at approximately 7:40 a.m., KAMEG agents, with assistance from the Illinois State Police and the Kankakee County Sheriff'sDepartment, eradicated 751 outdoor cannabis plants from 5235 South 15000 East County Road in Pembroke Township. During the search warrant, agents also seized equipment utilized in the production of cannabis sativa plants and four firearms. This is an on-going investigation.

 

 

On Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at approximately 3:10 p.m., KAMEG agents arrested Brett E. Magruder, age 24, of Bradley, IL, for unlawful possession of stolen firearms and for the unlawful sale of firearms. During an investigation, KAMEG agents recovered 2 suspected stolen firearms on August 14, 2018. Magruder was transported to and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center. This is a joint investigation between KAMEG and the Kankakee County Sheriff's Department.

 

 

On Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at approximately 4:20 p.m., KAMEG agents arrested Billy L. Garcia, age 22, of Kankakee, IL, for unlawful possession of weapons by a felon and for the unlawful sale of stolen firearms. During an investigation, KAMEG agents recovered 2 suspected stolen firearms from Garcia. Garcia was transported to and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

 

 

On Monday, August 13, 2018, at approximately 6:10 p.m., KAMEG agents executed a search warrant at 1947 Marmion Drive, Kankakee, IL. During a search, agents located approximately 18.8 grams of suspected cannabis, 66.3 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 112.0 grams of suspected cocaine, and 5 firearms. A resident, Sammy R. Clark, age 60, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of controlled substance with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of cannabis (10-30 grams). Clark was transported to and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

 

 

On Saturday, August 4, 2018, at approximately 9:40 p.m., KAMEG Agents arrested Jacob D. Hudson, age 29, of Bourbonnais, after Agents observed his vehicle illegally parked in the 300 block of South Rosewood in Kankakee. Agents seized approximately 16.1 grams of suspected cannabis and a loaded .22 caliber revolver from inside the vehicle. The driver, Hudson was charged with possession of a weapon by a felon and unlawful possession of cannabis. Hudson was transported to the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

 

 

On Friday, July 20, 2018, at approximately 10:20 p.m., KAMEG agents executed a search warrant at 359 East Hickory Street #2, Kankakee, IL. During a search, agents located approximately 0.7 grams of suspected heroin, 1.6 grams ofsuspected crack  ine, and United States Currency. Byron O. Corbitt, age 41, was arrested and charged with delivery of a controlled substance possession. Quameka L. Wilson, age 36, was arrested and charged with delivery of a controlled substance. Both were transported to and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

 

 

On Thursday, July 19, 2018, at approximately 5:24 a.m., KAMEG agents executed a search warrant at 531 South Dearborn Avenue, Kankakee, IL. During a search, agents located approximately 197.8 grams of suspected cannabis and a 9mm pistol. A resident, Darius K. Samuels, age 23, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver. Samuels was transported to and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center. KAMEG was assisted by the Kankakee Police Department SWAT team.

 

 

On Thursday, July 19, 2018, at approximately 12:59 p.m., KAMEG agents executed a search warrant at 509 South Lincoln Avenue, Kankakee, IL. During a search, agents located approximately 926.6 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine and approximately 3,508.6 grams of suspected cannabis.  A resident, Visel Guadalupe Perez-Varela, age 18, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver. Perez-Varela was transported to and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center. KAMEG was assisted by the Kankakee Police Department.

 

 

 

On Sunday, July 15, 2018, at approximately 5:48 p.m., KAMEG Agents executed a search warrant at 369 South Chicago Avenue in Kankakee, Illinois.  Agents seized three firearms, approximately 3.0 grams of cannabis, approximately 3.5 grams of suspected heroin/fentanyl, and approximately 4.0 grams of suspected crack cocaine.  Arrested was Matthew R. Jones, age 27, of Kankakee.  Jones was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Defaced Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver.  Jones was transported and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center.  KAMEG was assisted by the Kankakee Police Department.

 

 

On Saturday, July 7, 2018, at approximately 7:30 p.m., KAMEG Agents arrested Dewitt L. Holbrook, age 29, of Kankakee, after a traffic stop near 662 West Merchant Street in Kankakee. Dewitt was arrested for three counts of delivery of a controlled substance stemming from previous KAMEG investigations. Holbrook was transported and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

 

On Thursday, June 07, 2018, at approximately 11:06 p.m., KAMEG agents arrested Rodney K. Allen, age 26, of Kankakee, IL, and Brandon D. Adams, age 24, of Kankakee, IL. Allen and Adams were occupants in a vehicle stopped at the intersection of E Risser St / 5 Albert St, Kankakee, IL, which resulted in the seizure of approximately 4.5 grams of suspected ecstasy, 13.8 grams of suspected cannabis, .7 grams of suspected crack cocaine, and a semi-automatic handgun.  Allen was charged with driving while license suspended, unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.  Adams was charged with armed violence, possession of a weapon by felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.  Allen and Adams were transported to and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

 

On Monday, May 28, 2018, at approximately 7:56 p.m., KAMEG agents arrested Larry L. Dorsey, age 30, of Pembroke Township, IL, and Taynsha Smith, age 30, of Pembroke Township, IL. Dorsey and Smith were occupants in a vehicle stopped in the area of 2000 S 13000 E Rd, Pembroke Township, IL, which resulted in the seizure of three (3) semi-automatic handguns with one of the handguns equipped with an extended magazine and suppressor. Dorsey and Smith were charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Dorsey and Smith were transported to and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

 

 

On Saturday, April 28, 2018, Kankakee Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group (KAMEG), Bourbonnais Police Department, Bradley Police Department, Illinois State Police, Kankakee Police Department, Kankakee County Sheriff's Department, Manteno Police Department, Aroma Park Police Department, and St. Anne Police Department partnered with the Drug Enforcement Administration in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day at the Northfield Square Mall. KAMEG Director Thomas Jennings reported that the event was an overwhelming success and that approximately 1,402.6 pounds of unwanted prescription drugs were turned in for disposal in Kankakee County alone. This amount represents approximately a 300 pound increase from last October's total. KAMEG was also assisted by the Pledge for Life Partnership of Kankakee County and the Kankakee County Health Department. KAMEG would also like to thank area residents for their continued support and for assisting in the event to make our communities safer.

On Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at approximately 4:48 p.m., KAMEG agents arrested Demetrius S. Wells, age 38, of Kankakee, IL, for delivery of a controlled substance. During a  investigation in the 1000 block of S. Washington Ave, Kankakee, Wells, delivered 1.3 grams of suspected crack cocaine. Wells was transported to and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

 

 

On Monday, April 16, 2018, at approximately 5:25 p.m., KAMEG agents arrested Dione K. Flynn, age 28, of Kankakee, IL, for delivery of a controlled substance.  During a drug investigation in the 200 block of W. Chestnut St, Kankakee, Flynn, delivered 0.8 grams of suspected crack cocaine. Flynn was transported to and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

 

 

On Monday, April 09, 2018, at approximately 11:30 p.m., KAMEG agents arrested Malik M. Trapp, age 20, of Pembroke, IL, Sylvester L. Braddock, age 25, of Chicago, IL, and Demetric C. Logan, age 24, of Kankakee, IL. Trapp, Braddock, and Logan were occupants in a vehicle stopped in the 1600 block of E Court Street, Kankakee, IL, which resulted in the seizure of three (3) semi-automatic handguns.  Trapp was charged with no firearm owner's identification (FOlD) and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.  Braddock was charged with no firearm owner's identification (FOlD), aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.  Logan was charged with no firearm owner's identification (FOlD) and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, and unlawful possession of a weapon by a gang member.  Trapp, Braddock, and Logan were transported to and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

 

 

On Monday, Apri l 03, 2018, at approximately 6:50 p.m., KAMEG agents arrested Brian J. Smith, age 34, of Kankakee, for unlawful delivery of a cont rolled substance. During a narcotics investigation in the 400 block of Washington Avenue in Kankakee, Smith delivered 1.4 grams of suspected crack cocaine. Smith was transported to and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

 

 

On Thursday, March 29, 2018, at approximately 1:46 p.m., KAMEG Agents with assistance from the Kankakee Gang Enforcement Tactical Unit arrested Denzell Leggett, age 21, of Kankakee, Darion Taylor, age 22, of Harvey, Kwatez McLemore, age 26, of Kankakee, and Kristopher Brown, age 22, of Kankakee after a traffic stop in the 1900 block of West Station Street in Kankakee. During the traffic stop, a stolen .380 handgun and a second handgun were recovered. Leggett, Taylor, McLemore, and Brown were arrested for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and for possession of a stolen firearm. Leggett, Taylor, McLemore, and Brown were transported and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

 

 

On Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at approximately 2:19 p.m., KAMEG with assistance from the Kankakee County ERT executed a search warrant at 3593 South Main Street in Hopkins Park. During the search, agents located approximately 41.6 grams of suspected heroin, approximately 8.3 grams of suspected crack cocaine, approximately 10.8 grams of suspected fentanyl, a stolen 9mm handgun, ammunition, drug paraphernalia, and currency. Maurice C. Lumpkins, age 32, was arrested and charged with criminal drug conspiracy, unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver within 500 feet of a park, and felon in possession of a stolen firearm. Jermalde Gaines, age 45, was arrested and charged with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance within 500 feet of a park. William Frazier, age 69, was arrested on an in-state warrant. Lumpkins, Gaines, and Frazier were transported to and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

 

 

 

 

On Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at approximately 5:15 p.m., KAMEG agents arrested Leeland L. Green, age 46, of Kankakee, IL, for delivery of a controlled substance within 500 feet of church property. Green was arrested near the intersection of East Station Street and South Chicago Avenue in Kankakee after he allegedly delivered 0.7 grams of suspected crack cocaine. Green was transported to and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center. KAMEG was assisted by the Kankakee Police Department's Gang Enforcement Tactical Unit.

 

 

A five month investigation culminated in the arrest of Donato Cruz-Perez, age 37, of Aroma Park, IL., on Thursday, February 22, 2018. At approximately 5:39 p.m., KAMEG agents executed a search warrant at 106 North Irvine Street in Aroma Park, IL. During a search, agents located approximately 183.4 grams of suspected cocaine, 245.3 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, 33.1 grams of suspected heroin, drug paraphernalia, and currency. Perez was arrested at the residence and charged with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Perez was transported to and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center. KAMEG was assisted by the Aroma Park Police Department and the Kankakee County State's Attorney's Office.

 

 

On Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at approximately 7:41 p.m., KAMEG Agents arrested Keith D. Cahan, age 24, of Chebanse, after Agents responded to 222 West Court Street in Kankakee after receiving information about possible drug activity. Agents seized approximately 0.2 grams of suspected crack cocaine from inside a vehicle. The driver, Cahan was charged with possession of a controlled substance. Cahan was transported to the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

 

 

On Tuesday, February, 6, 2018, at approximately 5:05 p.m., KAMEG agents arrested Alexander Steel Sr., age 49, of Kankakee, IL, for delivery of a controlled substance. During a drug investigation near 2745 South US Highway 45/52 in Kankakee, Steel Sr., delivered 1.3 grams of suspected crack cocaine. Steel Sr., was transported to and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

 

 

Two more individuals were arrested by KAMEG Agents last week. These individuals were part of KAMEG's latest round-up which began on October 22, 2017. To date, 26 individuals have been arrested on drug delivery and/or drug possession charges. Arrested last week were:

Brian J. Burmeister, age 26, of Manteno

DeJuan A. Taylor, age 24, of Kankakee

KAMEG Agents were assisted by the Manteno Police Department, the Kankakee Police Department, the Kankakee County Sheriff's Department, the US Marshal's Central Illinois Fugitive Task Force, and the Illinois Department of Corrections Parole Division. Throughout the investigation, KAMEG was also assisted by the Kankakee County State's Attorney's Office. This is an ongoing investigation with more arrests anticipated.

 

 

On Monday, January 29, 2018, at approximately 7:35 p.m., KAMEG agents arrested Teon M. Claypool, age 30, of Kankakee, IL, for delivery of a controlled substance within 500 feet of church property. During a drug investigation near 590 South Washington Avenue in Kankakee, Claypool delivered 0.3 grams of suspected heroin/fentanyl. Claypool was transported to and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

 

 

On Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at approximately 3:27 p.m., KAMEG Agents arrested Craig R. Calhoun, age 56, of Kankakee, after a traffic stop at the intersection of South Schuyler Avenue and Charles Street in Kankakee. Calhoun was arrested for two counts of delivery of a controlled substance stemming from previous KAMEG investigations. Calhoun was transported and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center.

 

 

On Saturday, January 20, 2018, at approximately 8:20 p.m., KAMEG Agents arrested Adan Zarate III, age 42, of St. Anne, after Agents observed him walking in the 300 block of South West Avenue in Kankakee. Agents knew Zarate III had an active Kankakee County warrant for failure to appear. Agents placed Zarate III under arrest and also recovered approximately 14.8 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine. Zarate III was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Zarate III was transported and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center. KAMEG was assisted by the Gang Enforcement Tactical Unit of the Kankakee Police Department.

 

 

On Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at approximately 10:48 p.m., KAMEG agents executed a search warrant at 2265 South Kensington Avenue, Kankakee, IL. During a search, agents located approximately 3.5 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 0.1 grams of suspected heroin, and currency. The resident, Yashie M. Moore, age 39, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Moore additionally was charged with two counts of delivery of a controlled substance stemming from previous KAMEG investigations. Moore was transported to and detained at the Jerome Combs Detention Center.
